Cotswold Boxer Club Annual Dog of the Year

We invented the prestigious Annual Dog of the Year contest back in 1985 when Bobby James, Pat Withers and Valerie Garratt chose Ch Rayfos Cockrobin as their winner. Since then we have invited the Top Winning Boxers each year to compete for the annual title.

We started by combining the competition with our September Limited show but moved it to coincide with our Championship Show in 1988. Then in 1995 we re-launched the competition as a glittering evening function held in the Gold Cup Suite at the Cheltenham Racecourse. In 2000 we combined with the Pup of the Year contest for the first time, but then went back to Cheltenham for the 2001 finals.

Then in 2002 we decided to join forces with the Mancunian Boxer Club's Pup of the Year and the British Boxer Club's Boscars Awards dinner staging all functions as part of one 'BOXER EVENT' and this fabulous joint occasion continues to this day. Further details can be found at www.boxerevent.com

Our President Ivor Ward-Davies was always a massive supporter of the Dog of the Year and so when he died in September 2000 the Club fittingly bought the famous 'Quintessence' trophy and dedicated it in Ivor's name, to be presented annually to the Cotswold Dog of the Year.
